Tuma received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. He completed his internship and residency training at the Creighton University Medical Center, serving as Chief Resident. He then completed his Cardiovascular Fellowship at the Cardiac Center Creighton University Medical Center, serving as Chief Cardiovascular Fellow. He completed an Interventional Cardiology/Endovascular Medicine Fellowship from the Cardiac Center at Creighton University Medical Center. Dr. Tuma moved to Rapid City in 2006 to join the Heart Doctors.

Dr. Tuma is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease and is currently pursuing board certification in Nuclear Cardiology.
